Dario Piga began playing the guitar when he was 11 years old. In 2009 he won a scholarship from the AIE (Asociación Intérpretes y Ejecutantes) that gave him the opportunity to study at the famous academy of flamenco in Seville called “Fundación Cristina Hereen” where he was studing two years with Pedro Sierra, Niño de Pura, Paco Cortés, Eduardo Rebollar, Pepa Sanchez etc.
At the same time he studied at the Music School of Jerez de la Frontera (Conservatory of Music) and in 2010 he received the “Diploma oficial de guitarra flamenca” at the Conservatory of Seville. During the years at the conservatories of music he had the opportunity to meet and to study with Luis Balaguer, David Vargas, Marcelo de la Puebla and Laura Vital, flamenco singer (cantaora) from Sanlucar de Barrameda.
Living in Seville he was co-working with many flamenco artists, participating in various festivals and concerts with the ‘cantaores” and he participated in competitions and in various tours travelling around almost Europe.
In December 2009 he won the “Premio della critica” in the international competition of young musicians “Andrea Parodi”, held in the island of Sardinia. The title of the prized song was “Dantzamena” and this song takes part of his first Cd entitled “Ahora Nada”.
In July 2012 Dario Piga published a hand-book in five languages (also in English) that includes a Cd with 20 exercises for flamenco guitar. From 2005 until 2014 he has been collaborating with the international jazz festival “Time in Jazz”, traditionally held in Sardinia.
Since 2013 he has been collaborating with the flamenco Festival IBÉRICA (CZ), the “Městské Divadlo” (Municipal Theatre) in Brno (CZ), with the theatre Hybernia in Prague (CZ) and with the Divadlo Na Orlí in Brno (CZ).
In 2017 he published a new Cd entitled “Don Piga”
